Meet Our Leadership Team

Kris Kempe is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Seaside Horizon Ventures, a real estate investment firm built around creative acquisition strategies that solve for sellers traditional buyers cannot serve.

A graduate of the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University, Kris pairs a finance-trained approach to underwriting with an operator’s instinct for the human side of a transaction. Under his leadership, Seaside Horizon has built a proprietary deal platform that unifies lead intelligence, underwriting, and seller communication in a single system, allowing the firm to move with speed and consistency at every stage of a deal.

Kris’s guiding principle is that the best deals are the ones both sides would do again. He leads a team that treats every seller conversation as a relationship rather than a transaction.

Zach Kempe serves as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Investment Officer of Seaside Horizon Ventures, where he oversees the firm’s capital structure, underwriting standards, and investment strategy.

Zach earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame, where he competed as a Division I athlete, and returned to Notre Dame’s Mendoza College of Business for a Master of Science in Finance. That combination, the discipline of high-level competition and the rigor of a graduate finance education, shapes how the firm evaluates opportunity: every acquisition is modeled against defined return thresholds before it advances, and the numbers are expected to hold under pressure.

In his dual mandate, Zach is responsible for capital deployment, investor relations, and portfolio performance. He sets the underwriting discipline that keeps the firm’s growth and its balance sheet moving in the same direction.

Dan Kaplan is the Chief Operating Officer of Seaside Horizon Ventures, responsible for turning strategy into daily execution across acquisitions, transaction coordination, and dispositions.

A graduate of the University of Wisconsin, Dan oversees the people and systems that carry a deal from first conversation to the closing table. He owns the firm’s operating cadence: how leads are worked, how commitments to sellers are tracked, and how every file is kept moving toward close.

Dan’s focus is consistency: that the experience of working with Seaside Horizon is the same on the hundredth deal as it was on the first, and that nothing promised in a conversation is lost on the way to closing.
